Updates!

Wow, lots of things have happened since last time I wrote!

On Halloween, Robert and I went to Antelope Island for their annual Buffalo Roundup. We started out very early and got there just before the sun came up, it was a beautiful start to the morning. So we get all saddled up and are getting ready to go we see some people starting to ride out. We decided to try and catch up with them so we were hurrying. Well, one thing i have to mention is that Jordan (our horse) is kind of a nervous horse. We decided that she has to have a routine and if we don't stick to it she gets weird on us and sometimes freaks out. Well, we didn't do the whole routine and as I was getting on she started getting nervous and decided to back up. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but we were close to the trailer and as she was backing up and I was just getting my leg over the saddlle, she backed up and hit the trailer, which made her jump forward and caused me to come off. I landed right on my hip/back. I don't really remember much of it other than being on the ground and being in LOTS of pain. I couldn't move to find a comfortable spot to sit, stand, or even lay down in. It was terrible.
There was a first responder there and he checked out all the pressure points and decided I was fine and left. But I wasn't. I could hardly walk without being in pain and we couldn't figue out why. After the first initial pain wore off and the adrenaline kicked in I decided that I needed to get back on and ride. But I was very wrong. I decided that I needed to justgo home and then possibly go to the doctor or the emergency room but that I would wait and let Robert do the ride. My sister-in-law Jody decided that she would not ride and take me home. We went on Antelope drive towards the freeway and with all the bumps decided that I needed to go to the ER. We got there and they gave me a Morphine shot and anti-inflammatory to help with my pain and took an xray of my pelvis. I had two more morphine shots before I left 4-5 hours later. They couldn't find anything wrong in the xray but the nurse was worried that there was something else wrong and decided to do an MRI. That still didn't find anything so they released me and gave me some more happy pills for the pain and I went home. I got a little better but still coulnd't walk and do the things that I used to.
So three weeks later I still felt like there was something wrong with my hips and went in to a specialist. He couldn't quite figure out what was wrong with me and thought that it was just deep tissue bruising but had them do another xray of my lower back just to make sure. Well, that didn't tell him much so he sent me to an awesome physical therapist.
He looked at me and had me do a few different things then popped my SI joint back into place and then I could walk normally again! It was AWESOME! Who knew!?!? Anyway, I've been going to him for about a month now and have made huge improvements and have very little pain now. But since I still have pain I have to keep going so I can keep strengthening my back and leg muscles so that it hopefully doesn't happen again.

Then during all that fun stuff was Thanksgiving. That was so much fun! My sister and her family came in from Seattle and stayed for about a 10 days. It was so nice to have her back here! I love her kids they are so cute! And her boys are getting so big. They are 6 and 3 and I had a fun time playing with hem as much as I could with my bak being hurt and everything. She also has a little girl that is 1 yr old now and is the cutest little thing!
The Monday or two before Thanksgiving we have Pie Night with my sisters in-laws and their family, and then we did dinner at my mom's house and pie later at Robert's parents house.
On Thanksgiving morning we had family pictures. My aunt Carol took them for us and they turned out very well!

Here's one of the whole family

Top: Charlie, Ashley, Tom, Dad, Mom, Robert, Me, Scott
Bottom: Sue, Brianna, William, Carter, Adam, Katie, Emily
(I LOVE Will's face in this!)

One of Robert and I

Then I decided that for Christmas I would get tickets to go to Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo. It was awesome!! We had a ton of fun! We went down with our friends and stayed for three days and went to all of the Cowboy Christmases there. We also went to two nights of the Rodeo. We had a lot of fun. It was my first time going to something like that so I was pretty excited.
While we were down there Robert and I got a few things for ourselves for Christmas. Robert got this awesome western looking suit coat. It's longer than a usual suit coat and looks super cool with a cowboy hat. I'll have to take some pictures of him in it. He looks really cool. Then I got a belt and purse that both have lots of rhinestones on them. They are way cute as well. So we both had a great time down there for christmas.

Hope everyone had an AWESOME Christmas and an even better New Year!!

Whew!

Man what a couple of month it has been. We are still so busy! It's crazy! So here's what's been going on again...

My mom, Ashley, Katie and I have been getting into making our own cards - you know- being crafty?! Anyway, totally not something that I am very good at, BUT I am getting pretty good at this I think! We've made lots of cards and they are constantly getting better all the time! If you want me to send you one, post your address in the comments and what kind of a card you'd like to get and I'll make it and send it to you! It's lots of fun and I would love to get any ideas if you have any!

What else? Well... We both have been working a lot. We have been taking down some old greenhouses and are getting ready to put up new ones! So exciting!!! I'll post some pictures when I can get a minute to upload them but they are coming along very well!

And it's that time again for the Posse Election Dinner to find out who will be captain in two years. It's kinda lookin like Robert is going to be captain in two years... Kinda fun but lots of work! We'll see if someone else puts in for it though! (keep your fingers crossed!) We'll find out for sure the first Monday of next month and I'll definetly let you know how it all goes.

Summer?! Where have you gone?

Wow! Summer is almost over! I can hardly believe it is almost over! However we have done SO much since i last wrote... So here's what's been going on:

1. We had a French foreign exchange student come and stay with us for a month. It was pretty fun, we learned a lot from him. His name was Thomas and he was 15. The perfect age for the local girls around here to fall madly in love with him. So ya it was a great learning experience for the both of us. But other than that we had a great time. We went boating a lot while he was here and he showed us his awesome tricks diving off the boat. He was also able to be here for the 4th of July and also for the 24th of July festivities. It was really fun for him to be able to see all the rodeos and parades and stuff. I'm pretty sure that he had fun while he was here and was also very glad to be going home. We're pretty sure that he's home but we haven't really heard anything from him since he left, but we're pretty sure that he is because he's been posting on Facebook... anyway. It was fun while he was here but we're happy to have it be just us again.

2. RODEO SEASON - ya it's that time again for us. It seems like all we are doing is working boating and rodeos or parades. It's really fun and we both love it! Robert and I both rode in the Ogden Rodeo and we both did really well. For now we are done with rodeos for about a month then we have the state fair, then we'll be done with rodeos for the year.

3. Then there's lots of camping going on. This weekend we have Robert's family reunion up in the Uinta's it should be lots of fun to see his family again. Then the next weekend we will be up in Fort Bridger for about 10 days helping with the registration for their reinactment thing. That should be pretty interesting too. I will take lots of pictures and post them when we get back.

Pictures from Delta

So i finally am getting around to updating and posting pics of our first rodeo. It was lots of fun but very wet. Luckily we didn't ever have to ride in the rain. So here's some pics:

Here we are first entering the arena. I'm the second one in from the left. Then Robert is the last one in on the same row.

This is Robert

This little kid won the muttin bustin. If you don't know what that is then i'll explain. It's where the little kids of the town get on a sheep and ride it till they get bucked off. The last kid on wins! It's really pretty funny. This kid rode backwards.

This is the rodeo announcer. He's way cool. He's done the Ogden Rodeo for the longest time so he's seen what we do and got the crowd into it.

This is our captain. I don't know if you can see it but he's sticking his tongue out at me. This is right before we went to the parade.

This is me closest to you and then Robert in the background.

Well that's just about it. If you want to see more let me know and I'll put up some more.

Guest for a month

Robert's sister is a representative for the foreign exchange student program and she convinced us to host a French student for a month this summer. We are going to be getting a boy from France. It should be kinda interesting. Luckily that is when we are usually pretty busy boating and going to rodeos and stuff with family so I'm excited. but it will probably kinda weird to have another person in the house with us.... He comes on June 27th and will be here till July 25th.

And this weekend is the Delta rodeo. I'm taking my camera and am going to have someone take pictures for me while were riding. So hopefully I'll have a bunch of pics this weekend!

Stay Tuned!!!

Update

Well, it's been a while but here's the gist - I'm going to be riding in the Posse again this year. i am borrowing a horse from a good friend of ours in the posse. I will be riding a bay horse this year (that's a black and brown horse for those who don't know) It should be really exciting and fun! If you are going to be in any of the areas we ride in you should come take a look. Our first performance is next Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Delta rodeo. Then after that is the parade for the 4th of July and then all of the Pioneer Days events. I'm really excited! Robert is also riding and will be on our Grulla Roan, Jordan (I can't explain the color of this one. She changes all the time. I'll post a pic in the next day or so).

Not much else has been happening other than that. We both are working, however I have started not working so much lately. Our busy season at the greenhouse has been slowing down a lot.

Robert has been able to go out on the water twice already. He's been really excited about being able to go out this year. Especially since Willard Bay is open this year! That means boating much more than last year because it is a lot closer. If anyone wants to go just let us know and we'll work somethin out! We always need people to go with!!

Spring riding

So we went riding on Antelope Island on Monday afternoon. It was a really nice day, the sun was out and shining down on us as we rode and there was a slight breeze. I was riding Jordan and Robert was riding Sassy. Robert's parents, Tieler and Myla (a foreign exchange student living with Jim and Bettie for the school year) and a couple boys from our ward. It was pretty good. But about a half hour into it Sassy lived up to her name and kicked one of the other horses. Then aout ten or fifteen min after that my horse got kicked by another horse and then like fifteen mins after that Jordan decided that she didn't want me to ride her anymore and started bucking. Ya bucking! Like bronc riders in the rodeos and stuff like that! Exciting? yes! Scary? HECK YES!!! I bailed after the third kick. I could tell that she was going to start running and bucking so that's why I bailed. But luckily I said a little prayer while in mid air with one of my feet still stuck in the stirrup, (Ya not good...) Anyway I managed to twist my foot out of the stirrup and fell on the ground clear of any rocks or sharp objects. So I didn't get hurt. That's really good. And I did get back on even though I was kinda scared to. but like every good cowgirl. I got back on and rode the rest of the ride. So all in all I guess you could say that it was a pretty god day because no one got hurt.

Other than that not much has been happening. I've been working more and more with the spring weather trying to come every now and then. But we've been getting busier and busier so that's really good. Posse starts drill practice tomorrow for the first time this year. We'll have to see if the snow and rain will go away long enough for us to have it... we'll see. And Robert has been working as much as he can so that's about it for now!

Pictures

Ok so it's been a while. But I finally have a picture of our new trailer. I haven't been able to get pictures of the inside because it's been locked but I will soon. So for now here is one of the outside and some awesome sunsets from my back porch.

Spring Fever

So last week was beautiful. Unlike today, which was all rain and snow and cold weather! Anyway, a week ago last Saturday Robert and I decided that we needed to comb out the horses manes and tails. So after I got home from work and Robert got back from riding we started attacking the tedious job. It took us quite a while but we finally got it done. Then after we got that all done I braided their manes and tails to make them longer and thicker (Hopefully anyway). So I took a few pictures of them, only I didn't think about taking them the same day. So I went back the next day or so and looked at my handy work and wouldn't you know it Sassy had already managed to get the braid out of her mane.

So here are some pictures of Sassy and her mane and tail

And here are some pics of Jordan. Our suposed Blue Roan mare.

I didn't get a very good picture of her tail. She doesn't like me to be behind her very much. And Sassy doesn't like me to look at anything other than her. So I couldn't get a good picture of her tail. i kinda did it funny too, because I didn't want to stand right behind her to braid her tail so I stood off to the side and that made it all crooked. It looks kinda funny but oh well. It works!

Ok, so it's only been a month or so since I posted last, but not a whole lot has been happening. but one of the fun things that we did was last week. We kinda helped put together a party for a late St. Patty's day celebration. It was tons of fun! We had about 15 couples that came and partied with us.

It was a karaoke party so there was lots of singing mostly good but also some that was kinda iffy but so stinkin hilarious that it made the night super fun!

This is the Posse house all decorated before the party.

This is Robert rockin out singing Third Rock From the Sun.

Ok so the guy on the right is a regular at these parties. He sings Busta Move. It's awesome he knows it all pretty muvh and doen't really need the words. But he usually gets a person to help him out with this song to 'busta move'. This time it was Jeremy. One of my friends husbands. It was so funny because he doesn't usually sing or dance. But that night he was a dancing machine! He busted out moves that his wife said she had never seen! It was lots of fun.

This is a picture of all the ladies that were there singing Eye of the Tiger. and for some reason I felt the urge to belt out the chorus and they thought that I needed to be heard better... Anyway...

This is Jim (my fatherin-law) singing his heart out in a once in a lifetime event to 'North to Alaska'. It was pretty cool.

So that was our fun night.

Trailer news

Yay! We found a trailer! It's really nice. Everything hasn't been finalized yet but it's going to be soon!! We're both really excited! I'll have to post some pictures as soon as we get it! It's really cool because it has a living quarters and that includes a bed, fridge, stove, air conditioner, cd player, radio, awning, and a bunch of other things too. It's really nice. We are hoping that getting this we will be able to go camping and stuff like that more and not have to sleep in a tent. So that's exciting!

It's official!

My diploma came in the mail the other day! That was pretty cool! And what made me post about it just now is that today we went and bought a frame for it. I'm excited to hang it up in my office at work!! Where it will be greatly admired by me and anyone else that comes into the room! Anyway, I guess it hasn't really been a big deal to me yet but now getting this means that I'm really done! I can really throw away all those old assignments and not worry about them coming back to haunt me! Yay!

In case you didn't know...

In case you don't know, A gooseneck trailer is a fifth wheel trailer that hooks onto a hitch in the bed of your truck. They are much more expensive than a traditional trailer that you hook onto a hitch on the bumper and they also have the area over the bed of the truck that you can either put your tack (Saddles, hats, clothes, bridles, all the other horse stuff) or sometimes you can fit a queen sized mattress on top of there to sleep on for long trips. (So Miss Hailey, that is what a gooseneck is. I'm not quite sure what you were imagining but I'm sure it was hysterical!)

So on Friday night Robert and I rented Madagascar 2. And for those of you who haven't seen this movie yet you are missing out!! It is hilarious! We about laughed ourselves off the couch a few times while watching it!! It's great! Worth buying even!

What to do, what to do...

So Robert and I have been thinkin about buyin a horse trailer. But we're not really sure what we want to do. We're trying to find a three or four horse trailer that's a goose neck with living quarters. But that is pretty difficult! Especially since we don't want to spend very much either.... Hmm anybody know anyone selling? Well, that's really all that's been going on. Oh we went snowmobiling today. It was tons of fun! I really LOVE going! Good thing Robert already had one so we didn't have to buy one after we got married. Yay! One less thing on the list of toys that Robert and I want before we get too old to use them. ;)

Oh hey -

I cut and colored my hair today! Ain't it cute? I cut off about 6 inches! It was crazy, I didn't think I had that much hair to cut off! Anyway here's before:

I don't know if you can tell or not, but my hair was about 6 inches down from my shoulders.

Here's an after picture (I tried to take a good picture, I'm not sure if you can tell):
It's really cute. And yes, my hair is now pretty red. But it's really cute too. I cut it to just above my shoulders. It just barely reaches. It's nice. I haven't had it this short for a really long time. But anyway, What do ya think?

A Post for the New Year - finally

So it's been a while since I posted last. But not a whole lot has happened. We've just been working like crazy and have been skiing a few times with family but not much other than that has been going on. We try to go riding as much as we can but sometimes that doesn't work out so well for me but at least the horses are getting a little exercise. Robert has working with both of them and says that they're coming along pretty well so that's fun. Tom has been working out at the greenhouse with us and it's pretty fun. We've gotten a lot done out there with him around to help us out.
Anyway, so that's about all. But I have a bunch of pictures that I wanted to post! So here they are:Here Sue: This is the frame that we put on the picture for mom and dad for Christmas. It looks really good. They're going to hang it in the front room over the couch. And the next one is a picture of dad's new toy. And Grandpa was able to take it for a spin while he was around too. He was having lots of fun.

This is a good picture of my husband being a goof-ball. I love it! He hardly ever does anything fun for me long enough to be able to take a picture so I'm glad that he let me take this. We were both laughing like crazy while he was doing it too!

This is me trying to play soccer on the Wii Fit. It's a lot harder than I thought that it would be, but it's a lot of fun too!!
So I took our Wii Fit over to my parents house and everyone got a turn to try but Emily didn't get a chance to play since she's only 2 and doesn't really understand the concept. So we decided to help her out a little bit and she got to have some fun in the process. This is me pulling my niece Tieler on a sled behind the four-wheeler. It was lots of fun. I haven't done fun stuf like that for a long time. But we all had a great time and no one got hurt so that made it even better. Unfortunately though there wasn't much snow in the field and my sister-in-law Jody was riding with Tieler one time and our dog was running next to them and the dog flipped up some poop into Jody's mouth. It was really funny, but really gross too. Guess you had to be there...

This is Kaydence. My bet friends cute little girl that she let me take pictures of when they cam over one day. It was lots of fun. She looks like one of the valentine cherubs. I love to take pictures of little kids. But only when they're happy. It's much easier.

This is an awesome picture of a sunset at my house. Isn't it beautiful? I tried to take a picture like this with my other camera but it definately didn't turn out like this. I love my new camera. It's great fun.
