Updates!

Wow, lots of things have happened since last time I wrote!

On Halloween, Robert and I went to Antelope Island for their annual Buffalo Roundup. We started out very early and got there just before the sun came up, it was a beautiful start to the morning. So we get all saddled up and are getting ready to go we see some people starting to ride out. We decided to try and catch up with them so we were hurrying. Well, one thing i have to mention is that Jordan (our horse) is kind of a nervous horse. We decided that she has to have a routine and if we don't stick to it she gets weird on us and sometimes freaks out. Well, we didn't do the whole routine and as I was getting on she started getting nervous and decided to back up. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but we were close to the trailer and as she was backing up and I was just getting my leg over the saddlle, she backed up and hit the trailer, which made her jump forward and caused me to come off. I landed right on my hip/back. I don't really remember much of it other than being on the ground and being in LOTS of pain. I couldn't move to find a comfortable spot to sit, stand, or even lay down in. It was terrible.
There was a first responder there and he checked out all the pressure points and decided I was fine and left. But I wasn't. I could hardly walk without being in pain and we couldn't figue out why. After the first initial pain wore off and the adrenaline kicked in I decided that I needed to get back on and ride. But I was very wrong. I decided that I needed to justgo home and then possibly go to the doctor or the emergency room but that I would wait and let Robert do the ride. My sister-in-law Jody decided that she would not ride and take me home. We went on Antelope drive towards the freeway and with all the bumps decided that I needed to go to the ER. We got there and they gave me a Morphine shot and anti-inflammatory to help with my pain and took an xray of my pelvis. I had two more morphine shots before I left 4-5 hours later. They couldn't find anything wrong in the xray but the nurse was worried that there was something else wrong and decided to do an MRI. That still didn't find anything so they released me and gave me some more happy pills for the pain and I went home. I got a little better but still coulnd't walk and do the things that I used to.
So three weeks later I still felt like there was something wrong with my hips and went in to a specialist. He couldn't quite figure out what was wrong with me and thought that it was just deep tissue bruising but had them do another xray of my lower back just to make sure. Well, that didn't tell him much so he sent me to an awesome physical therapist.
He looked at me and had me do a few different things then popped my SI joint back into place and then I could walk normally again! It was AWESOME! Who knew!?!? Anyway, I've been going to him for about a month now and have made huge improvements and have very little pain now. But since I still have pain I have to keep going so I can keep strengthening my back and leg muscles so that it hopefully doesn't happen again.

Then during all that fun stuff was Thanksgiving. That was so much fun! My sister and her family came in from Seattle and stayed for about a 10 days. It was so nice to have her back here! I love her kids they are so cute! And her boys are getting so big. They are 6 and 3 and I had a fun time playing with hem as much as I could with my bak being hurt and everything. She also has a little girl that is 1 yr old now and is the cutest little thing!
The Monday or two before Thanksgiving we have Pie Night with my sisters in-laws and their family, and then we did dinner at my mom's house and pie later at Robert's parents house.
On Thanksgiving morning we had family pictures. My aunt Carol took them for us and they turned out very well!

Here's one of the whole family

Then I decided that for Christmas I would get tickets to go to Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo. It was awesome!! We had a ton of fun! We went down with our friends and stayed for three days and went to all of the Cowboy Christmases there. We also went to two nights of the Rodeo. We had a lot of fun. It was my first time going to something like that so I was pretty excited.
While we were down there Robert and I got a few things for ourselves for Christmas. Robert got this awesome western looking suit coat. It's longer than a usual suit coat and looks super cool with a cowboy hat. I'll have to take some pictures of him in it. He looks really cool. Then I got a belt and purse that both have lots of rhinestones on them. They are way cute as well. So we both had a great time down there for christmas.

Hope everyone had an AWESOME Christmas and an even better New Year!!

Whew!

Man what a couple of month it has been. We are still so busy! It's crazy! So here's what's been going on again...

My mom, Ashley, Katie and I have been getting into making our own cards - you know- being crafty?! Anyway, totally not something that I am very good at, BUT I am getting pretty good at this I think! We've made lots of cards and they are constantly getting better all the time! If you want me to send you one, post your address in the comments and what kind of a card you'd like to get and I'll make it and send it to you! It's lots of fun and I would love to get any ideas if you have any!

What else? Well... We both have been working a lot. We have been taking down some old greenhouses and are getting ready to put up new ones! So exciting!!! I'll post some pictures when I can get a minute to upload them but they are coming along very well!

And it's that time again for the Posse Election Dinner to find out who will be captain in two years. It's kinda lookin like Robert is going to be captain in two years... Kinda fun but lots of work! We'll see if someone else puts in for it though! (keep your fingers crossed!) We'll find out for sure the first Monday of next month and I'll definetly let you know how it all goes.

Summer?! Where have you gone?

Wow! Summer is almost over! I can hardly believe it is almost over! However we have done SO much since i last wrote... So here's what's been going on:

1. We had a French foreign exchange student come and stay with us for a month. It was pretty fun, we learned a lot from him. His name was Thomas and he was 15. The perfect age for the local girls around here to fall madly in love with him. So ya it was a great learning experience for the both of us. But other than that we had a great time. We went boating a lot while he was here and he showed us his awesome tricks diving off the boat. He was also able to be here for the 4th of July and also for the 24th of July festivities. It was really fun for him to be able to see all the rodeos and parades and stuff. I'm pretty sure that he had fun while he was here and was also very glad to be going home. We're pretty sure that he's home but we haven't really heard anything from him since he left, but we're pretty sure that he is because he's been posting on Facebook... anyway. It was fun while he was here but we're happy to have it be just us again.

2. RODEO SEASON - ya it's that time again for us. It seems like all we are doing is working boating and rodeos or parades. It's really fun and we both love it! Robert and I both rode in the Ogden Rodeo and we both did really well. For now we are done with rodeos for about a month then we have the state fair, then we'll be done with rodeos for the year.

3. Then there's lots of camping going on. This weekend we have Robert's family reunion up in the Uinta's it should be lots of fun to see his family again. Then the next weekend we will be up in Fort Bridger for about 10 days helping with the registration for their reinactment thing. That should be pretty interesting too. I will take lots of pictures and post them when we get back.

Pictures from Delta

So i finally am getting around to updating and posting pics of our first rodeo. It was lots of fun but very wet. Luckily we didn't ever have to ride in the rain. So here's some pics:

Here we are first entering the arena. I'm the second one in from the left. Then Robert is the last one in on the same row.

This is Robert

This little kid won the muttin bustin. If you don't know what that is then i'll explain. It's where the little kids of the town get on a sheep and ride it till they get bucked off. The last kid on wins! It's really pretty funny. This kid rode backwards.

This is the rodeo announcer. He's way cool. He's done the Ogden Rodeo for the longest time so he's seen what we do and got the crowd into it.

This is our captain. I don't know if you can see it but he's sticking his tongue out at me. This is right before we went to the parade.

This is me closest to you and then Robert in the background.

Well that's just about it. If you want to see more let me know and I'll put up some more.

Guest for a month

Robert's sister is a representative for the foreign exchange student program and she convinced us to host a French student for a month this summer. We are going to be getting a boy from France. It should be kinda interesting. Luckily that is when we are usually pretty busy boating and going to rodeos and stuff with family so I'm excited. but it will probably kinda weird to have another person in the house with us.... He comes on June 27th and will be here till July 25th.

And this weekend is the Delta rodeo. I'm taking my camera and am going to have someone take pictures for me while were riding. So hopefully I'll have a bunch of pics this weekend!

Stay Tuned!!!

Update

Well, it's been a while but here's the gist - I'm going to be riding in the Posse again this year. i am borrowing a horse from a good friend of ours in the posse. I will be riding a bay horse this year (that's a black and brown horse for those who don't know) It should be really exciting and fun! If you are going to be in any of the areas we ride in you should come take a look. Our first performance is next Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Delta rodeo. Then after that is the parade for the 4th of July and then all of the Pioneer Days events. I'm really excited! Robert is also riding and will be on our Grulla Roan, Jordan (I can't explain the color of this one. She changes all the time. I'll post a pic in the next day or so).

Not much else has been happening other than that. We both are working, however I have started not working so much lately. Our busy season at the greenhouse has been slowing down a lot.

Robert has been able to go out on the water twice already. He's been really excited about being able to go out this year. Especially since Willard Bay is open this year! That means boating much more than last year because it is a lot closer. If anyone wants to go just let us know and we'll work somethin out! We always need people to go with!!

Spring riding

So we went riding on Antelope Island on Monday afternoon. It was a really nice day, the sun was out and shining down on us as we rode and there was a slight breeze. I was riding Jordan and Robert was riding Sassy. Robert's parents, Tieler and Myla (a foreign exchange student living with Jim and Bettie for the school year) and a couple boys from our ward. It was pretty good. But about a half hour into it Sassy lived up to her name and kicked one of the other horses. Then aout ten or fifteen min after that my horse got kicked by another horse and then like fifteen mins after that Jordan decided that she didn't want me to ride her anymore and started bucking. Ya bucking! Like bronc riders in the rodeos and stuff like that! Exciting? yes! Scary? HECK YES!!! I bailed after the third kick. I could tell that she was going to start running and bucking so that's why I bailed. But luckily I said a little prayer while in mid air with one of my feet still stuck in the stirrup, (Ya not good...) Anyway I managed to twist my foot out of the stirrup and fell on the ground clear of any rocks or sharp objects. So I didn't get hurt. That's really good. And I did get back on even though I was kinda scared to. but like every good cowgirl. I got back on and rode the rest of the ride. So all in all I guess you could say that it was a pretty god day because no one got hurt.

Other than that not much has been happening. I've been working more and more with the spring weather trying to come every now and then. But we've been getting busier and busier so that's really good. Posse starts drill practice tomorrow for the first time this year. We'll have to see if the snow and rain will go away long enough for us to have it... we'll see. And Robert has been working as much as he can so that's about it for now!
